Game through culture concept: 

Romanticism vs. The Modern Breakthrough  --> Two portal worlds --> Confront the player with reality

EU value:

  • We think that several of the EU values can be detected in our concept, but the main value is equality
    • Equality Our game emphasizes the importance of providing equal opportunities for all.

PLAY methods

To move from the Experience phase to the Play phase we used the “Concept Convergence” method and started brainstorming on game ideas. From the Culture Safari we were inspired by the contrast between Romanticism vs. The Modern Breakthrough (Polished world vs. reality) and our brainstorm was based on this. 

After having brainstormed on game ideas we created a mood board (Culture + Value + Game collage) to help us get a shared vision and understanding of the mood/scene of our game design. 


This provided us with a clearer and more tangible vision of the atmosphere we wish to capture which prompted us to transition the brainstorm into Unity and begin actually creating elements of the game world. 


Culture and game concept

Next, we began to explore how to merge the visual universe from our mood board with a game concept. We had a chat with Amalie and Maria and they inspired us to create a portal world. 

Expert Council Feedback 

We received a lot of useful feedback from the expert council. We will continue to work on the concept and focus on how to create interactions to strengthen the experience of the game. The council also suggested that we scoped down and only create one world. We will keep the level 2 idea because this is closer connected to the paintings and it will be easier to implement objects from them.
