Game concept:
"History is never truly in the past - it's a living story, shaped and reshaped by those who tell it".
Our game concept revolves around the contrast between the romanticized ideal presented by the Romantic period and the more realistic depiction of the world introduced by the Modern Breakthrough. The images from these periods all tell stories—and each one reshapes reality in its own way. Our interpretations, in turn, reshape those stories again. After all, how much of what we see can we truly trust?
You are a farmer living in a world, where the reality is harsh and plants refuse to grow. You will face an opportunity to overcome this problem by entering an idealised world of the romantic period. But will this resolve things or will you discover that a polished world doesn’t exist? No matter who you are and where you come from, you can’t cheat your way through life
The specific steps of the game:
The player starts in the world of Modern Breakthrough, where they discover a plant that refuses to grow (the plant is highlighted using a particle system in Unity). Then, a riddle appears, pointing them toward a house with light coming from one of the rooms. Entering the room transports the player into the world of Romanticism - a realm of beauty and illusion. There, they are drawn to a beam of sunlight and decide to bring it back, believing it will help the plant thrive. Initially, it seems to work. But over time, the player uncovers a deeper truth: nothing from the Romanticism world is real. Its light is only an illusion, and cannot nurture real growth.
